Bruna Viola

Bruna Viola

Bruna Viola, stage name of Bruna Villas Bôas Kamphorst (Cuiabá, May 25, 1993), is a Brazilian singer, songwriter, and viola player who won a Latin Grammy in 2017. Her greatest idols and references are Tião Carreiro of the duo Tião Carreiro and Pardinho and the singer Inezita Barroso. Currently, she resides in São José do Rio Preto and tours throughout Brazil, performing shows and appearing on television channels. Bruna Villas Bôas Kamphorst was born on May 25, 1993, and grew up surrounded by musicians. Because the viola is her preferred instrument, Bruna adopted the name of the instrument she plays in all her shows as her stage name. Furthermore, the instrument was also extremely important in her artistic career, as it was at the age of 11, after receiving her first viola, that the young girl entered the musical world, in a performance at an agricultural fair. Upon turning 19, the "Flower of Mato Grosso" (as she was affectionately nicknamed by her fans) had to make the most important decision of her life: continue in music or pursue veterinary studies. With her schedule becoming increasingly busy, the young woman who is giving a new face to sertanejo music chose to put her studies on hold and invest in her artistic career. At this time, Bruna also left her hometown to live in Campinas, from where travel is easier between shows performed throughout the country, but currently she has chosen São José do Rio Preto for its geographical advantages, being located between Paraná, Mato Grosso do Sul, Minas Gerais and also on the São Paulo >> Goiânia route. However, her songs continue to have life on the farm as their theme. In 2015, Bruna released her debut album Sem Fronteiras (Without Borders) through Universal Music, which includes the song "Se Você Voltar" (If You Come Back), featuring César Menotti & Fabiano, and which the following year was included in the soundtrack of the Rede Globo telenovela Velho Chico. In 2016, the singer recorded her first DVD on March 2nd at Villa Country in São Paulo. The musical direction was by Paul Ralphes, the video direction by Marcelo Amiky (former artistic director of TV Cultura), the set design by Fábio Delduque (who has worked with Ney Matogrosso, Jorge Ben Jor, and Vanessa da Mata), and the photography direction by lighting expert Danny Nolan. Danny was the lighting designer for Sting and Paul Simon's most recent tours. The DVD also featured the participation of the duo Cesar Menotti & Fabiano on the hit song "Se você voltar" (If You Come Back).
